In the Summer, every night is game for a night out, but in college, you can always be sure to find all your friends partying on a Thursday night with either late classes or no classes on Friday. With hotter temperatures comes more refreshing, and yes, fruitier, concoctions than during the school year. In honor of your most beloved day of the week in college, here are some easy, but different, Summer drinks that will hold you over until your return to school and those Thirsty Thursdays.
For beer lovers, the Huffington Post gives us Pimp Your Beer: Lemon Shandy
1 cup sugar
3 cups water
four 3-inch strips lemon zest, removed with a vegetable peeler
1 cup fresh lemon juice
chilled beer, such as pale ale
2 parts Zacapa or Pusser’s rum
2 parts pineapple juice
Several orange wedges
1 part cream of coconut
Pour pineapple juice, then smash and muddle the oranges on the bottom. Add cream of coconut, rum, and stir. Pour over ice. Top with a heavy dash of nutmeg.

1 bottle (750 ml size) Southern Comfort
6 ounces lemon juice
6 ounces can frozen lemonade
6 ounces can frozen orange juice
3 liters 7Up/Sprite
Of course we love our favorites like Skip n’ Go Naked, Mai Tai, and Sex on the Beach, but hopefully these drinks will offer you something new to drink this Summer or to introduce to everyone once those Thirsty Thursdays come around again.
