Winter’s Bone questions
1. In October sky, there was always a sense of hope that Homer was going to overcome any obstacle in his way (which he did), and achieve his goal. Winter’s Bone, however, there was always this feeling of dread, like the worst has yet to come. It was a much darker movie than October sky also. The lighting in the film was always eerie and dull. There were bright moments in October sky though. Both films ended on a good note although Homer’s going to be following his dreams and all Ree got was some money but then again, that’s all she really needed. 2. The cold, dull forest, the old beat down cabins and the junky cars and trucks all make me feel like Arkansas is one of the worst places to live in. These really help to set the tone for this film, because it really seems like most of the people there are poor not living great. 3. Yes Ree is a hero in my eyes because she’s courageous, selfless, trustworthy, and persistent in trying to find her dad. She doesn’t care what happens to her she just wants her siblings and mother to not have to live an even more dreadful life. For example, she only tried to join the army to get the money that came with giving service but when she found out she couldn’t care for her siblings if she left, she decided it wasn’t a good idea. Teardrop has a change of heart throughout the film, he starts helping Ree when he decides he wants revenge for his brother’s death. At first he didn’t want anything to do with it but later he saves her from the people that beat her up. It really shocked me when he started helping her because he just seemed so mean and aggressive at first. I thought he was going to find the killer and kill him. 4. I think they knew what happened to Jessup and knew that it was best not to help or talk about it with Ree. Teardrop helps her by rescuing her from the Milton’s. 5. It made feel grateful for what I have and the way I’m living because I would never want to...
