Why Torture Is Acceptable

this quote is saying don’t be so quick to assume that just because the word torture is in the resolution that it is unjustifiable With these words in mind, I stand in firm affirmation of the resolution that: the torture of inmates in Guantanamo bay is justified based on the crimes they committed.

My value for this debate is justice
My value criterion is punish the guilty because it is the best tool with which to measure if my value is being upheld in this debate.

For the sake of clarification in this debate, I would like to define the following terms from Miriam Webster Dictionary: justified to provide or be a good reason for (something) or to prove or show (something) to be just, right, or reasonable : To provide a good reason for the actions of (someone) Torture: something that causes mental or physical suffering: a very painful or unpleasant experience

Justice: the process or result of using laws to fairly judge and punish crimes and criminals based:have as the foundation for (something); use as a point from which (something) can develop.

I have three contentions, each of which upholds my value:
My first contention is that: the inmates in Guantanamo bay deserve what is happening to them My second contention is that: we are choosing the lesser of two evils And My third contention is that: the torture is exaggerated

Contention 1 the inmates at Guantanamo bay deserve punishment Even if the prisoners are being tortured at Guantanamo bay, several of them, as you probably know are members of Al Qaeda a terrorist group that is responsible for nine eleven resulting in the deaths of nearly three thousand innocent Americans, and The 1993 World Trade Center bombing occurred on February 26, 1993, when Ramzi Yousef parked a rented van full of explosives in the parking garage beneath the World Trade Center.
