Kelsey Timmerman

In Kelsey Timmerman’s presentation, I learned a lot from it and it opened my eyes to actually realize how ungrateful we can be in The United States. There was one part in particular when he talks about the clothes we are wearing. Timmerman shared how he traveled the world. It all started with his favorite t-shirt, and how he wanted to go to the factory that it was made in. We never take the time to think who actually is behind the scenes working and making the clothes we wear. He focuses on one lady named Arifa throughout his presentation. She is a lady who works in one of the factories he visited as he traveled. He started to talk about how she doesn’t get paid like a typical worker in the United States. I don’t remember exactly how much he said she earns a week, but she only brings home $24.00 a month. It’s sad to know hard it is for her, and I believe he mentioned she had children that she had to provide for. The clothes that we are wearing, someone had to make it and these people are not making that much money. This really opened my eyes to see that we should be grateful for what we do have. We may not have the best job in the world, but it could be worse. I found Timmerman’s presentation very informative. When I went home the night after the presentation, I went through most of my clothing and shoes to see where they were made. Overall, Kelsey Timmerman was a great speaker. He suggested that we should want to travel the world, and learn new things. It’s one thing to sit in a classroom and learn about different countries, but to actually travel to those countries is a totally different thing. He said that he learned a lot more when he traveled than he did in the classroom because you get to experience what it’s really like to live in different countries. After attending the presentation, it made me want to travel the world even more.
