Evaluation
1.Were the students able to relate their feelings and hard times to art? I will go through out the room one on one asking each student how it felt to express their emotions on paper. I would not ask the students to have a group decision about this lesson, due to this being a very touchy topic for some students to discuss. 2. Were students able to verbalize connections to their artwork? I will discuss this with them one on one and I will ask them how it felt to draw this. 3. Were the students able to visualize the hard time in the book? We will relate things from their artwork to Shaun Tan’s.

4. Were the students able to understand and identify the vocabulary? At the of class I will ask the students the two vocab words and what they mean by the show of hands. 5. Did each student create a drawing of himself or herself going through a hard time? I will discuss this with each student during one on one time.

Production Activity
Students will then have the rest of class to visualize what they have learned and make it in to a drawing of themselves with or without their family in it, going through or experiencing a hard time. They may use as much color they want to express emotion. I will walk around and admire they work and ask them what symbols they are using and why?
