Romeo And Juliet has been a famous and used novel in schools around the world. It is most known for its dramatic, “love story”, and epic fights between acts. In particular, drama is the most frequently used throughout this novel due to the disputing hatred the Capulets and Montagues have for one another. All these components mixed together lead to a cliché ending, but with events leading up to it that will leave you wondering “what if.” The climax is the hook in action that is the most exciting and impactful. Just like the climax, endings like this one can have a dramatic impact on the storyline, which is what this novel manages to do.…

I dislike peace, hate hell and my detestation of the Montagues are beyond my imagination. It was revolting to see that Benvolio making all that peace, it just disgusts me so much; so weak and worthless. Seeing those those Montagues, destroyed my plans on that Sunday morning, while I was walking in Verona Square. I immiediatley got my sword out and offered to fight. But the fragile Montague declined, and instead makes PEACE! I do not accept peace, never! A futile slave of theirs bit his thumb at us Caplets. If I had great power like my precious Prince I were to vanquish the whole of the Montagues from Verona! They sickened me so much. The citezens of Verona joined in, but I ignore them, for I did not care. Lord Montague appeared in the scene but our Lady Caplet also arrived at our present. We fought in words until our Prince arrived to stop the hostility. Angry as I was, I still hated those…

In an interview with Benvolio Montague, an eyewitness at the scene says; “ Tybalt wanted to fight so he taunted Romeo to do so. Romeo refused to fight. I am unsure why Romeo didn’t fight with Tybalt, he was instead trying to be at peace with him. But Mercutio felt honour-bound to stand up for Romeo and fight. Romeo tried to stop the fight but failed, Tybalt stabbed Mercutio under Romeo’s arm and ran away from the scene."…

Romeo Montague, the tragic hero, is first introduced by Shakespeare as a heartbroken young boy with no will to live. Romeo turns suicidal when his crush, Rosaline, does not reciprocate his love. This is ironic because the play is called Romeo and Juliet, so all this pain can only be assumed to be from Juliet's actions, not Rosaline’s, Romeo’s companions attempt to motivate him to get over Rosaline by telling him there are plenty of available women out there. At this point Romeo is so heartbroken his life is in jeopardy and he is threatening suicide. He enters the Capulet’s party professing his undying love towards Rosaline. "I'll go to the party, but just to see fair Rosaline- the only one for me." (Shakespeare I. iii. 10). It is no secret to Verona that Romeo is a hopeless romantic. His own clique mocks the fact that Romeo goes from girl to girl declaring his love for them. Romeo overhears them mocking his actions and past infatuations while sneaking back into the Capulet’s home to meet his “newest true love". Juliet he says, "Mercutio laughs at love's scars, but he never felt a wound." (Shakespeare II. ii. 23). As he begins to romance with Juliet it is clear he has “been here before”.…

Decisions are often made without proper thought when people are under pressure. In William Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet”, readers are able to see the tragic outcome of hasteful decision making in different situations by multiple characters. Haste is a major factor in Tybalt’s death, a murderous demonstration by Romeo that leads to tension between the families involved. Tybalt’s intent is not murder, but on the other hand, Romeo’s is, and carries it out his decision hastily without thinking of the consequences. In addition, Juliet’s plan to poison herself and fake her death is one that is thought out with naivety in order to avoid her arranged marriage to Paris. Furthermore, Romeo’s suicide is an action driven by carelessness as he doesn't look for insight from the Friar or any other individual that may help. Haste is an overlying theme in the play as it affects the plot development by manipulating the actions of the characters and situations, thus resulting in a tragic ending.…

After the ball, Romeo is aware that Juliet is a Capulet, and that the relationship would be ill-fated, yet he pursues in promoting the relationship, and so does Juliet. He later avenges Mercutio by killing Tybalt, resulting in the climax of the play—the banishment of Romeo. This leads to Juliet to being suicidal, “If you who are so wise can’t help, please be kind enough to call my solution wise. And I’ll solve the problem now with this knife.“ (4.1.3). Friar, seeing that she has already decided to kill herself, comes up with a plan, to fake her death, and she decides to go through it as she has no other option but death. However, this idea didn’t go as planned, Romeo never heard anything of the plan, and Balthasar, his servant, reports that Juliet is dead, as he “saw her buried in her family’s tomb,“(4.5.7). After learning of the news, Romeo immediately decides that he will kill himself, the very next thing he does is obtain poison from an apothecary, to use to end his life. As Romeo prepared to die for Juliet, he notices that even though she was supposedly dead, lips and cheeks still had a rosy complexion, stating “There is still red in your lips and in your cheeks.”(5,3,5). If Romeo had been more patient, he would have figured she was not dead after all, but rather than think of anything else, his only thought was to end his life right then and there, as he goes to say "Here’s to my love! (drinks the poison) O true apothecary, Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die."(5.3.5). When Juliet wakes up, she realises the flaw to their plan, and she too wastes no time in committing…

Romeo and Juliet is a story of two doomed teenage lovers whose fate ends in tragedy. In modern times the name Romeo has become nearly synonymous with “lover”. Romeo, in Romeo and Juliet, does indeed experience a love of such purity and passion that he believes he can no longer live and decides to take his own life when he believes that the object of his love, Juliet, has died. The power of Romeo’s love, however, often obscures a clear vision of Romeo’s character, which is far more complex. He is an emotional, juvenile, brave character that makes very impulsive, rash decisions. Romeos character changes drastically throughout the play due to his character traits, strong influences from others and determination…

In this essay I will be comparing two scenes within the play that convey similar and contrasting themes. The themes I have chosen to contrast are love, hatred, loyalty, time and fate. I will also look at how Shakespeare uses these themes to characterise the protagonists and antagonists, moving it towards its tragic denouement. The scenes I have chosen are Act 2 Scene 2, the famous balcony scene, in which Romeo and Juliet fall deep into blinding love and agree to marry; and Act 3 Scene 1, in which a terrible fight breaks out between Tybalt and the Montagues, resulting in Tybalt and Mercutio's deaths, and Romeo's exile. I have chosen these scenes because they show such contrast that it is hard to believe that they are in the same play. They also uses a wide range of themes that are used in very different ways within the two scenes, as well as this, the scenes are two…
