The graphical representation of data gives us the idea on the shape of the distribution (population).

The mean, median and mode which we shall define in this section provide estimates for the centre of the distribution DEFINITION OF THE
MEASURES OF LOCATION

The
mean ( or the arithmetic mean, to give its full title) can be defined as the value which each item in the distribution would have if all the values were shared out equally among the items.

For instance, if three people had M2, M3 and M7 respectively, the mean amount would be M4, i.e.
M12 shared equally between the three people.

In chapters three and four I found the examples to be very interesting. Not only did they show a way of incorporating the lesson they also showed us wording, punctuation, format, and on top of that, they were very interesting clips from what I am sure would be great complete essays. The fact that statistics are not always reliable is something I knew but I was glad that it was reiterated in the book. Something I did not realize was that you could draw a picture with words and it is called an illustration, this was very interesting to me.…

This research paper will be designed to answer a couple questions regarding statistics about the Buena School District school bus data. The questions I will be discussing and answering will be based on maintenance of the school busses. The question prepared is; is it cheaper or more expensive to run Thompson, Bluebird, or Keiser busses? I will also be addressing another question based on other variables by removing the gas types and making it just one gas type instead of two; does gas type have anything to do with the maintenance of the Thompson, Bluebird and Keiser busses when removed from the regression? In order to answer these questions, both regressions and data sets do not contain the 6 passenger busses, being there are only very few and that they might skew the regression.…

Statistics is defined as the science of data. It involves collecting, classifying, summarizing, organizing, analyzing, and interpreting numerical information. (McClave, Benson, & Sincich, 2011, p. 3). . There are two different application process involved in statistics; descriptive and inferential. Descriptive statistics is the analysis that helps describe, summarize or show data in a way to allow patterns to emerge from the data. This can be captured numerically or graphically. Inferential statistics require the statistician to reach conclusions in way that extends beyond the immediate data alone, to draw an inference of the data.…

Measures of central tendency are measures which are representative of a sample or population. Central tendency provide the means for one to be more objective when collecting data or making inferences. These measures distinguish the center or middle of a set of values and best characterize the distribution. The central tendency of a distribution is an estimate of the "center" of a distribution of values. There are three major types of estimates of central tendency: Mean, Median, and Mode. The mean or average is the most common used method of describing central tendency and can be used for all data. The Median is the score found at the exact middle of the set of values. The mode is the most frequently occurring value in the set of scores (Lind, Marchal, Wathem, 2005).…
