Sprint Nextel Corporation (NYSE:S) is a United States-based global communication company and ranked the third largest telecommunications carrier in the United States that offers a comprehensive variety of wireline and wireless communications services. They also are a leader in local service, long distance and wireless communication. Even though the company is a telecommunication carrier, Sprint is unique and exclusive telecommunication organization that has its own share in the market. The company created different features and distinctive options that differentiate Sprint from the other leading telecommunication carriers such as AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile. Sprint has also made enormous efforts to become a green company and minimize its environment impact by becoming one of the leaders in the nation and pioneer in the telecommunication industry. Newsweek ranked Sprint Nextel No. 3 in its 2012 Green Rankings, listing it as one of the nation’s greenest companies, the highest of any telecommunications company.

Sprint Nextel served more than 56 million customers at the end of the second quarter of 2012.Sprint Nextel understands that in order to survive in a hostile industry with high competition, it is necessary to build strong relationships with other cutting-edge technology companies to continue to develop and engineer new products that will satisfy customer needs.

Sprint Nextel Corporation has been in the market for 74 years, since 1938. The company was incorporated in the state of Kansas, with its headquarters in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. Until 2005, the company was known as Sprint Nextel Corporation. Fortunately, the company merged with Nextel Communications and became the Sprint Nextel Corporation. Shortly after that in 2005, Sprint Nextel stopped offering local landline telephone business, and transferring those assets to a new company by the name of Embarq, that consequently was purchased by CenturyTel in 2008. Sprint currently owns 50.8% equity interest in Clearwire Corporation and an 18.0% in NII Holdings (International Nextel).

Sprint Nextel is well-known by its social responsibility and efforts to demonstrate integrity. They also state that if there is some divergence and shakiness of confidence due to an irresponsible associate, the company opts to set higher standards of ethical responsibility.
