An ion is an atom or a molecule with a positive or a negative charge due to the loss or gain of one or more electrons. Ionic solids are salts (such as NaCl) that are held together by a strong force of attraction between ions of opposite charge. Molecules are the smallest physical units of an element or a (chemical) compound. Ionic solids are also known as salts because salts are ionic compounds that are formed from a reaction between an acid and a base.…

There are three elements necessary for the spread of infection. First there has to be a source of an infective organism. This source can be endogenous or exogenous. Endogenous sources of infection reside on or in the host’s body. In contrast exogenous sources arise from outside. Second there has to be a mode of transmission. Described in below are the three primary modes of transmission, vertical, horizontal or contact. Lastly there has to be a susceptible host. Susceptibility of the host to infection generally is determined by the integrity of the host’s immune system and their ability to fend off the infective organism. (Alonzo, p.79)…

Space exploration is the discovery and exploration of outer space by the means of space technology. This means that useful and resourceful discoveries are being made every time that we send up humans into space. Over the years, space exploration has expanded technology to great heights, helped create new industries, and help create a peaceful relationship between nations. Space Biology is another huge reason why we should keep space exploration. NASA laboratories lead to new technologies that improve astronaut health and monitoring, while making scientific discoveries that benefit life on Earth. Another amazing that thing that space exploration has done for people on Earth is help make huge strides in the continuing development of artificial limbs. These are for people who have lost either an arm or leg and NASA has helped develop artificial muscle for a flexible robotic arm! Now, I am going to discuss three main topics about why we should keep space exploration. They are Economic, Ethical, and Environmental.…

Background: An ionic compound is formed when ions “transfer,” or lose or gain electrons. The ions in an ionic compound are held together by ionic bonds in a lattice shaped structured. They are packed tightly together to maximize the attraction between the ions. When two compounds are mixed together, they form a precipitate. A precipitate is solid that is formed from a chemical reaction. A cation is a positively charged ion and an anion is a negatively charged ion.…

Ionic compounds are formed between a metal and non-metal/s. They have a regular 3D-crystalline lattice of cations and anions. Cations are atoms that have lost an electron to become positively charged, while anions are atoms that gained an electron making them negatively charged. In an ionic compound, metal form the cations and non-metal/s form the anions. Ionic compounds are held together by ionic compound which has strong electrostatic attraction between cations or metals and anions or non-metal. This bond is responsible for having high melting point in ionic compounds. Solid ionic compound does not conduct…

He then stayed in a hotel in Hong Kong. 12 people that came into contact or close proximity to him during his stay became infected. Those 12 people went on their way and within 24 hours took the disease with them infecting more than 350 people during their travels to 6 countries.
