I have been exposed to different cases and scenarios in this area and flexibility is one factor I had improved. Since I have an IVT license, I have also improved my skills in IV insertions and giving medications in different routes. My standard first aid training and CPR for health care providers in Red Cross helped a lot in this area. I had applied all my recent trainings all in this area and in some cases in the ward. The first role of a nurse while on duty is assessing patients and incoming patients to prioritize which includes taking vital signs and taking subjective and objective data, history taking and rendering independent nursing interventions. Next is which is to be referred to the physician on duty and carry out orders in giving the appropriate management and medication. I had also experienced admitting patients and understand well enough there cases and endorse it to the ward with the appropriate management ordered by the doctor and independent nurse interventions and management. Referring laboratory results to doctor and/or other complaints and untoward signs and symptoms of patients to the doctor and to transcribe orders is another role of a nurse that I had practiced. In emergency cases like vehicular accidents and other critical cases, I have assisted in doctors and staff nurses in resuscitation and revival especially on respiratory distress and cardiac arrests. I am also allowed to ECG patients. In the minor operating room, I prepare instruments, supplies and the area for a specific operation.
