Procrastination Speech
By: Bridgette Umm..I didn’t write a speech sorry. (Walk away for a sec and then walk back) Okay, I’ll make one up on the spot; here it goes. Picture this: You walk into school today, you aren’t wearing pants, you aren’t wearing a shirt and you’re not wearing shoes. And worst of all *gasp*, when you walk into class, you have to hide in the corner so you don’t get screamed at for not getting you’re homework done. Thank you procrastination for your lovely work. Don’t you try “my dog ate my homework” or “my printer wasn’t working” C’mon we all know the truth. Hello Mrs. Lang and fellow students. My name is Bridgette and today I’m going to talk to you about procrastination. What is procrastination? Procrastination is when you do you’re work or something at the last minute. It’s like when you have a lot of homework to do, but instead you chose to watch TV or hang out with you’re friends: so you end up doing you’re homework at the last minute. Okay, the truth is we all have done it, we all do it, but the point is that we shouldn’t procrastinate because you get more stress and disorganized. Why do we procrastinate? We procrastinate because: 1. We just don’t want to do something we have to do, for example doing the dishes. 2. We feel overwhelmed with too much to do. Like in my personal experience I would always just freeze up and say “oh my gosh, I have so much homework, what should I do?” then I would just end up going on the Internet. 3. We’re putting too much pressure on ourselves to be perfect. 4. Procrastinators would always lie to themselves. Like for example they would say “ I’ll feel more like doing this tomorrow” or “I work best under pressure.” But in fact they do not get the urge the next day or work best under pressure. Procrastination affects us in different ways like your self-esteem, and the determination to do something. In today’s society, it seems that procrastination is a basic life style. For example,...
