    Alebrije

My chosen restaurant is Alebrije. Since Alebrije is so close to multiple schools in the 19610 area, it can be said that the target market for Alebrije is the population of 19610 that is at (or almost at) the “young married with children” and all the way through those at the “older married” stage. It is beneficial for Alebrije to target the Generation X consumers, the baby boomers, and the families of heads of household that are over 55. The Generation X consumers are more likely than others to indulge themselves and baby boomers and families with heads of household over 55 are more able to afford spending fifty dollars per meal, than others are. Through its prices, it specifically targets middle class people since they are the only ones who can afford to spend tens of dollars on each specific item.…

    Sensory Perceptions

“The brain, a complex structure, allows a human being to perceive and react to their environment, contemplate "the big questions," and experience a myriad of emotions. The brain controls the body and maintains the delicate internal balance needed to sustain life” (Smith, 2010). If fortunate enough, we humans all have five senses: vision, hearing, taste, touch, and smell. All of these senses that we have, work together to give us a conscientious picture of the world and where we belong in it. The statement, “There is nothing in the mind unless it is first in the senses” (Kirby & Goodpaster, pg. 54), means, that our brain would be empty without our senses. Our senses consolidate to make us understand who we are, where we are, and what is happening around us. Because our brain feeds and processes information about our five senses, we put meaning to our sensory experiences, thus, we are able to respond and behave accordingly. We rely on accurate observations.…

    Sensation and Perception

Sensation is how humans process the world around us. We use the basic senses of hearing, vision, taste, touch, and smell to do so. Each sense has an absolute threshold that shows what the smallest amount of whatever the stimulus may be is that we can notice. We also possess the ability for our senses to adapt to the world around us. Sensory adaptation allows our senses to adapt because the more we are around a certain stimuli, the more familiar we become with that stimuli, making our senses less sensitive to that particular stimuli. Sensation differs from the idea of perception because perception is how the brain interprets the world around us. It is how we find the meaning in the world. A major part of perception is attention. Attention is what allows us to consciously interpret the world. Selective attention is how our brain picks through various stimuli, choosing what we should focus our efforts on. The example in the book of the ambiguous figure comes to mind when I think of perception because it can either be an old hag-looking woman, or a young looking woman. The way the image is perceived depends on who is looking at it.…
