Ultrasound is the generation of energy using sound wave of about 20,000 or more vibrations per second. The ultrasound is mostly used in imaging tools and particularly in medical diagnosis. The ultrasound uses sound waves that are above the frequency of the human ear. A transducer is used to give off the sound waves that are reflected back from the tissues, and organs giving a picture of what are inside the body. This is later drawn on a screen. In medical diagnosis, ultrasound is used to analyze the bone structure, look for tumors, and examine the health of the unborn child.…

As a college student in todays world technology is all around. It comes in many forms such as laptops, cell phones, tablets and many more. It seems every college student has either a smart phone or a laptop if not both. College students rely heavily on technology for homework and research and also for connecting with friends on social media websites. Many people have created Facebook or Twitter accounts. The sites have spread worldwide and many people use them as a form of communication to keep in contact with others. Each individual has their own opinions on social media sites, some do not care for them, while others are on them constantly. Depending on their view, each person will use a different rhetorical situation to persuade others. A rhetorical situation contains the stance or position of the author, audience and genre. I want to know if technology is thought to help or harm a student’s success.…

    Mechanics

Throughout my life I've always had an interest in mechanics. At a young age I was constantly taking things apart to learn how they go together. This mechanical interest has played a huge role in life, dictating my hobbies and interests. My job as a bicycle mechanic is a large interest of mine. It allows me to creatively use my mechanical knowledge to fix problems with bicycles. Outside of work, I recently bought a motorcycle and have since been disassembling and tuning the entire motorcycle to rebuild it. I also take interest in sports such a snowboarding, skateboarding, mountain biking and road biking. Each of these sports have mechanical aspects which appeal to me. Skateboarding has inspired me to build a skatepark in my backyard. Mountain biking has introduced me to trail building, in which you use natural features and wood to create trails that flow through the terrain, typically incorporating jumps that must be built specifically to meet New England Mountain Biking Association standards. I have built my own mountain bike and road bike from the frame up, to the specifications I prefer. My choice in sports and part time job are a reflection of my natural proficiency in mechanical design. I have decided to capitalize on this ability by pursuing an education in mechanical engineering and I believe it will lead me to a deeply fulfilling career.…

From the time I first learned what an architect was, I knew that this would be the career field I would choose. Currently, I am studying at Blue Ridge Community College, and have enjoyed improving my drawing talent and improving my knowledge of design. There are many reasons why I chose engineering architecture as my learning goal; the education I am receiving is assisting me to becoming a better design, to be successful, and to improve the lives of people.…

Technology is determined by need. Inventors often have a mysterious skill of resolving situations with their modernisms. But the thing that splits engineers from ordinary innovators is the ability to distinguish the importance of maintainable technological solutions for the future. Although many of our needs and difficulties remain the same, the answers keep changing with time. Furthermore to finding out how a machine operates, I’ve always been interested in design aspects and observing the incipient faults occurring within machines. This desire has strengthened my ability to recognize the scope for improvement and also inspired me to look outside the conventional functionalities of any machine.…

420 PROCEEDINGS OF THE IEEE, VOL. 70, NO. 5, MAY 1982 Silicon as a Mechanical Material KURT E. PETERSEN, MEMBER, IEEE Abstract-Single-crystal silicon is being increasingly employed in a variety of new commercial products not because of its well-established electronic properties, but rather because of its excellent mechanical properties. In addition, recent trends in the engineering literature indicate a growing interest in the use of silicon as a mechanical material with the ultimate goal of developing a broad range of inexpensive, batch-fabricated, high-performance sensors and transducers which are easily interfaced with the rapidly proliferating microprocessor. This review describes the advantages of employing silicon as a mechanical material, the relevant mechanical characteristics of silicon, and the processing techniques which are specific to micromechanical structures.…
