Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement
Unit 301: Understanding the principles and practices of assessment 1:1 Assessment can be used for many different purposes, including to identify students’ needs, plan and adapt courses, check that learning is taking place, motivate students, acknowledge learning and measure results.    - Assessment for learning: where assessment helps teachers gain insight into what students understand in order to plan and guide instruction, and provide helpful feedback to students. At let me play we carry out initial assessments on each learner so that we can see what level they are in terms of their maths and English. We can then use this information when planning lessons to give all an opportunity to learn.   - Assessment as learning: where students develop an awareness of how they learn and use that awareness to adjust and advance their learning, taking responsibility for their learning. Every week each students carry out a weekly review of their progress against each qualification. They then assess if they have met their weekly targets and either carry on with the targets if not met or they set new targets. The tutor will then comment on their progress and give each learner some individual feedback on their performance   -Assessment of learning: where assessment informs students and teachers of achievement at a certain point in time in order to celebrate success and support continued progress. We carry this out as a weekly activity. We carry out formative discussions for each of the NVQ and BTEC units so that we can assess where the students are at in terms of their learning throughout the course. 1:2 Assessments has to remain fair, consistent and valid to ensure all learners have an equal and fair chance of receiving a fair assessment.   An assessor cannot be swayed to give a learner an easier assessment because they favour the learner.
