I have watched specials on 48 Hours about the bad side of spring break and followed the Natalie halloway story to a T. From hearing and seeing other peoples spring breaks unfold. I find myself to be a reliable source and tell you how to prevent having a bad spring break experience. As you book your flight and pack your bikini, chances are you can’t stop picturing the stunning beaches and festive cocktails waiting for you at your spring break destination of choice. But did you ever consider you might be one bad decision away from a spring break nightmare?

“We were in Ibiza, Spain my freshman year of college. One night, I ended up getting separated from my girlfriends and going back with a guy, but I didn’t realize my phone wad dead. My friends didn’t know where I was, and had spent all night looking for me and trying to think of ways to tell my parents that they lost me. It definitely scared all of us, because I had no clue where my girlfriends had gone, and there is nothing scarier than being in a foreign country and not knowing where your girls are.”- Krista, Simmons College

By now, we’ve all heard about Natalee Holloway and the dangers of hooking up with strangers. While it might seem like an extreme example, it’s important to recognize that hooking up with someone you don’t know puts you in an infinitely more vulnerable position than hooking up with a friend from home. But that doesn’t mean you can’t indulge in a little spring fling romance.

Before you hit the dance floor, develop a game plan with your girlfriends and stick to it. It’s easy to get lost in a crowded club, so agreeing on a time and place to meet at the end of the night is a great way to keep track of each other. The websiteSpringBreakSafety.org, suggests: “Go out with your friends, go home with your friends. It’s one of those things that keeps you a whole lot safer, and eliminates about 98% of the bad drama.”

Language is a way for every person to express themselves. In Sandra Cisneros’ “An Offering to the Power of Language”, she teaches the reader how the language you were born speaking holds a certain power to you. She writes about how important certain words can be to a person, and how they have connotations that can either be positive or negative. These words can have even more power to a person if they can’t be translated into another language. I believe that Cisneros has a very sound argument. However, I feel that she could expand a little more on the power of language, and its affect in everyone’s day to day life to further explain her point. Also, she could expand on the thought that some languages are better suited for certain styles of talking. Language is how people express themselves and it brings people together.…

Now the advice I give to those sent to Pinckney is as follows: During your first month and a half try not to draw attention to yourself. Second there’s not as many girls as there are guys there, so ladies take it from me when a guy asks you out most of the time it’s because they’ve most likely dated every girl there and they just see you as fresh meat. I don’t really have any advice for the guys except for this, don’t treat the girls that go there like dirt because those girls are the kind of girls that will get up and fight back.…

The organization is an imperative facet of any piece of writing. It provides the reader with a framework that shapes their thoughts which carries them throughout the writing piece. Looking at it from the writer's opposition, organization ensures that the writer can freely express their thoughts, opinions, or analysis on an issue without losing the reader in the process. A common struggle for writers in the “writing community” is knowing what they want to say, however, having the uncertainty of how to communicate it effectively. I personally struggled with this whilst writing my unit one paper. Due to the nature of the paper, it is an analytical review, I was provided with a rich volume of content, however, my struggle arises with the question of where do I begin? What do I include or exclude? And most importantly attempting to figure out…
