“Try to look at everything from the frame of 6 inches to be a good script writer” said my mentor Mr. Chaitanya Shah, when I started my internship in ‘script writing’. ‘A writer is born but a script writer is made’. Writing skills may come to you naturally but to write for a film or television is something very different, It needs entirely different vision. When I opted ‘script writing as my subject for internship it was entirely new to my naive eyes. Writing poetry, stories, narratives, is my passion but these are the things which we write for ourselves but script writing is not so, I experienced a great difference between writing poetry, stories etc. and writing a script. A script is usually written for viewers with the angle of camera. It is written with the purpose of execution. In case of script writing ‘camera’ is the ‘charioteer’ of your pen. My mentor Mr. Chaitanya Shah has worked as assist. Director with Baba Azmi for his serial ‘Ye Kaha Aa Aage Hum’. But got a reward from B.A for his writing skills. It happened so that, Baba Saheb, as a director found and Mr. Chaitanya Shah wrote many scenes for ‘Ye Kaha Aa Gaye Hum’ he was impressed by his writing skills & gifted him a book in reward. My 1st task as an internee was to read the novel written by Ravindranath Tagore ‘Nauka Dubi’ based on which script of ‘Ye Kaha Aa Gaye Hum’ is written. I completed this tast. Mr. Chaitanya Shah provided me the original script of ‘Ye Kaha Aa Gaye Hum’. I read that script ad found so many differences between ‘Nauka Dubi’ & the script of ‘Ye Kaha Aa Gaye Hum’.
