201: Understand employment responsibilities and rights in health, social care or children and young people’s settings

Some of the aspects of employment are set by law to allow people to have the rights of a number of things in their work place. Some of the aspects of employment which are covered by law are listed below: * Minimum wage * Hours worked * Discrimination * Health and safety * Holiday entitlements * Redundancy and dismissal * Training * Disciplinary procedures * Union rights and consultation * Labour law covers the deal between employee and employer. * Health and safety laws cover the work conditions

1.2. List the main features of current employment legislation.
There are a number of main features of current employment legislation. The spectrum of employment law in the UK covers these three main areas listed below: * Employment rights * Equalities and discrimination law * Health and safety legislation

1.3. Outline why legislation relating to employment exists.
There are many reasons why legislation relating to employment exists. This is mainly to help protect the rights of the employees and employers in work places. To protect the rights of the works there are rules and regulations set by law that must be followed. These rules and regulations will allow employees and employers to be protected during work. 1.4. Identify sources and types of information and advice available in relation to employment responsibilities and rights.
Some sources and types of information and advice available in relation to employment responsibilities and rights include some from the list below: * Job contracts * Job descriptions * Handbook * The terms and conditions of the employees contract * Policy documents * Additional learning support
