Aims and Objective Taken in either the first or second semester, English for Academic and Professional Purposes Part II (EAPP II) is a one-semester compulsory academic preparation and advanced study skills course which aims to advance students’ English language communication skills in order to assist them in further university studies and/or the workplace. In addition to further work on academic and general language skills of the type covered in EAPP I, students will be trained in producing effective CVs and in preparing for job interviews. Intended Learning Outcomes of the Course On completion of the course, students should be able to: ILO1 ILO2 ILO3 ILO4 ILO5 ILO6 use the language of argumentation and discussion. describe graphs, tables and charts effectively. qualify generalizations appropriately. utilize the language of comparison and contrast. generate a workable research topic, create a questionnaire, gather data, interpret data and discuss findings using appropriate academic conventions. blend previous research into academic discussion using the MLA style of referencing.
