Being organized means the student can easily access his or her school stuffs when at school or at home doing homework. Keeping good notes involves good organization of all the important details regarding his or her lessons not only of taking down it in the notebook but also when listening during the class. One thing in this article, I think especially useful is the examination skills. Professor Leamnson said that “the absolute worst thing you can do is to fall for the crazy notion that the way to prepare for an exam is to compress it all in the last 12 to 18 hours before the test, and keep it up right to the very last minute (Leamnson 11).” It is exactly what most of the college students acting in school. No matter the student is a score oriented or desired to learn knowledge, exam is still a very important session in college. It determines your ability, level of understanding about the material, and also the academic result. I used to not study good enough after class, and study extremely…

Marcus Credé and Nathan R. Kuncel (2008) in their research at the University of Albany said that Study habit, skill, and attitude inventories and constructs were found to rival standardized tests and previous grades as predictors of academic performance, yielding substantial incremental validity in predicting academic performance. The meta-analysis examined the construct validity and predictive validity of 10 study skill constructs for college students. They found that study skill inventories and constructs are largely independent of both high school grades and scores on standardized admissions tests but moderately related to various personality constructs; these results were inconsistent with previous theories. Study motivation and study skills exhibit the strongest relationships with both grade point average and grades in individual classes. They also said that Academic…

College students need to stay focused to ensure success at the next level. One needs to create a space that is quiet and has no distractions. Pick a place with no television, radio, or anything that will get ones attention. This will allow students to concentrate. Knowing when to study is a valuable part of learning. Students need to establish a routine of daily study habits. As students study, they need to take breaks. Studying for several hours at a time is not a great idea. Students need to break down studying into methods that are easiest for them. Students need to set academic goals, and once the goals are achieved reward themselves.…

In my opinion, one of the things that make a brilliant college student, is their attitude. A student that comes in fifteen minutes late to their class, forgets their homework, and brings in a negative attitude, is not going to succeed in college. An adequate student is prepared and is focused. In order to be focused, good students have a prime amount of sleep, for the upcoming day. An excellent student is one who wants to be there and is ready to tackle whatever gets thrown their way next. These students also have a…

I must be organized and disciplined; it is a necessity that I have a plan of action. For me, each class has different requirements and I put together a “study plan” for each class. A study plan is a formal, highly structured but easy way to not only do well in my individual classes, but to get me from my freshman year to graduation. This is a written commitment that states I will achieve certain goals that directly relate to my classes. Knowing for certain what is expected of me from each class. Reviewing the syllabus and writing down important dates, when test, paper and special projects are due. Peoples learning styles are different in every aspect that each individual looks different. I am a visual learner, so the more I see the information given the better I can learn and absorb what is being taught. Flash cards are a major part of my study plan. ”Why you ask”? Reading the information finding good strong details and then reading it again to write it on flash cards has already given me the upper hand in remembering and retaining that information. I feel having a good study strategy in college leads to being a successful college…
