The facts of the case are as follow; “on May 8, 1993, John Kilioi Miller stabbed to death Robyn Goring, whom he shared an apartment with along with their children. He was discovered by an officer who also lived in the same apartment complex. She had heard a loud noise which took her to the discovery of the horrible crime that had just took place. The minute the officer arrived Miller replied, “I lost it,” and at the same time apologizing for what he had done. She then observed the body of Goring which was lying on the kitchen floor with a knife in her body. It was later sought by the medical examiner that there where forty-two stab wounds in Goring. Miller gave a voluntary statement to police about the incident.”…
On the morning of December 18, 1992, two brothers were shot and killed in their Houston home. Police were called by a neighbor who heard the gunshots, and then seen a “dark colored” car fleeing from the house. It was later found out that defendant, Genovevo Salinas, was at the residence where the murders took place the night before December 18th. When officers went to Salinas’ house, they arrived to a dark blue vehicle that matched the witness’s account of the car. Police asked Salinas a few questions, he let the officers have his shotgun, and then the police asked him to come down to the station to answer a few questions so they could “clear him as a suspect.”…
This case is based on the death of Kristin whose author is her father. Michael Carter was Kristin’s ex-boyfriend, his past criminal record demonstrates how easy it is for criminals to get away with murder. I’m going to go over some of his past criminal record to demonstrate how Michael Cartier should have never been set free in the streets, and to demonstrate how many opportunities our justice system had to put him away in jail before he committed more crimes. I believe that the best way to present Michael’s criminal history is by covering some of the many encounters he had with our justice system prior to murdering Kristin as well as the consequences for his actions. The first arrest was 1998 for burglary, when arrested Michael was sentenced to six month in jail. However, he never served any time for this crime. Followed by a sledgehammer rampage in 1990. Another incident where our justice system failed to put Michael in jail was on March 28, 199I when another of Michael’s violent abuse victim called his probation officer. The probation officer “told Rose to get a restraining order” (Stillman, 2010). Rose Ryan sister mentioned to the probation officer that Michael had a gun in his possession, this led the probation officer to obtain a warrant for Michael Cartier’s arrest. This didn’t stop Michael from attacking rose with a pair of scissors. When Michael was finally picked up by…
One of the greatest challenges currently facing the American criminal justice system is overcrowding. America has the largest prison population in the world with over two million inmates which have led to major challenges in housing the many inmates. The many challenges being faced by the correctional system include insufficient prison beds for inmates and lack of prison space as well as inadequate funding, and resources. The causes for the extreme overcrowding have been blamed on retributive sentencing polices, new legislation, the War on Drugs, and the criminalization of the juvenile offender.…

The criminal justice system changes in regards to rules, procedures, and terms from state to state. But no matter what the punishment given to criminals cannot vary based on the standards set forth by the United States. A crime is described as an action that violates the federal laws of the United States. On the down side, all violations are viewed with different severities of punishment. Crimes can be looked at from as minimal as a traffic violation and elevate to as severe as homicide. The severity of the crime will establish the severity of what the punishment will be. The criminal justice system was designed to give order to standardize the level of punishment to fit the crime committed appropriately. The criminal justice system is mainly affected by constitutional law and has grown significantly over time. The current criminal justice system maintains itself by helping the process of catching and giving time to criminals.…

The criminal justice system has goals that it tries to achieve. The CJS is to respond in the name of society when there is a crime that has been committed. The CJS spans from federal, state, and local governments. Within the system, there are three agencies that work together as a system to implement the criminal justice functions.
