Stage of Critical Creative Thinking

Complete the matrix by identifying the six stages of critical thinking, describing how to move from each stage to the next, and listing obstacles you may face as you move to the next stage of critical thinking.

The Unreflective Thinker Examine my thinking to identify problems that affect my thinking. Deceiving myself about the effectiveness of my thinking

The Challenged Thinker I try to fix the problems in my thinking. I do not consult any source other than myself in how to change my way of thinking. The Beginning Thinker I realize that I need to get regular practice in thinking. I sometimes forget to think critically at all times. The Practicing Thinker The more I practice, the better I get. I do not practice enough. The Advanced Thinker I get extremely comfortable with critical thinking because of all of the practice. I cannot familiarize myself enough with the concepts. The Master Thinker Critically thinking about every situation is like second nature to me. I become too impatient to keep at it. I would place myself in the category of Advanced Thinker. I say this because I tend to over analyze everything. I think about things way too much sometimes, and I like to think about things from different perspectives. I like to think of myself as the creative type, and in order to be creative I have to think outside of the box. In order to think outside of the box, I have to take everyday situations, and think about them in many different ways. I also have a grandchild, so this has made me become more aware of all of the potential dangers in

My current level of critical-thinking is a Stage 1 which is a Unreflective Thinker. I place myself at this stage because I am very unaware of significant problems when thinking. My entire environment in terms of thinking is basic as I present the issues or situations that pass through my mind. In this stage my knowledge seems to be as a generic form of knowing or analyzing things without major involvement. Some situations are solved using our critical thinking but is not always implemented.…

Sometimes I feel as though I’m more in stage 1 the Unreflective Thinker. Although I think, I’m unaware of how my thinking is structured or how to asses and improve it. At times when I experience problems in thinking, I feel as though I lack the skills to identify and fix the problems. Take my job for example, when dealing with irate customers I take a step back and look at it from their perspective; however, I feel as though I lack the confidence to help the customers fix their problems. There are also times when it’s busy and short drivers, I have to come up with a decision that requires me to think things through before making a final decision. Since I am a dispatcher, it is up to me to ensure the drivers arrive at their destination within twenty minutes and ensure all drivers get their turn at running calls.…

An uncritical or intellectually unskilled thinker is conditioned in his beliefs. He hasn’t examined or analyzed what he believes or why he believes it; rather his beliefs are a result of things he has experienced passively, and have been influenced by stereotypes and prejudices. He is irrationally motivated by things that serve him well personally, such as vanity, arrogance and entitlement. He is often defensive in his behavior when his beliefs are questioned or confronted.…

I would say that I am a beginning thinker, I have control of all of my own personal thoughts I know that I am not always correct most of the time during each step of the thought process but I feel that I have a really good understanding of how to fix some of the issues that I have when in thought. Although some of the conclusions that I come to either workout for the short-term or long-term issue or have a tendency to be the opposite of the outcome that I was hoping for. I sometimes catch myself making a quick decision without fully thinking through the whole concept or the outcome that it will have on the issue that I am working on.…

I believe that my current stage of critical thinking is the second stage, the challenged thinker. I’ve placed myself in this stage because I know that my thinking has problems and that I really need to work on each issue. To move on to the next stage, I need to identify each problem in my thinking, or at least as many as I can. The first two problems hindering my critical thinking that I have identified so far is my misunderstanding of what concentration is, hindering my ability to successfully…
