1. Scope and Objective of the Course: This course intends to inform the debates, issues and development of Indian music over the last century. The course will be mostly theoretical which will include weekly readings, occasionally supplemented by audio recordings. Apart from the development of Indian classical music, the students will also examine other musical forms including popular and folk music and the contemporary practices around sound. 2.
