Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis are both diseases of the bone. Osteoporosis actually means “porous bones” and is a problem with bones where there isn’t enough calcium in them to give them strength. This is because the bone cells aren’t being reproduced as fast as the bone is aging or deteriorating which causes the bones to become fragile. This can happen because of loss of calcium in the bone, or a problem with the calcium being absorbed correctly, which it needs in order to build new bone tissue and complete the remodeling cycle. Even if the bone has enough, other parts of your body may not and will start taking calcium away from your bones.…

In the early 20th century, most physicians thought Lupus was a skin disease. Lupus got its name because patients looked like they had been bitten or scratched by wolves. In Latin the word Lupus means “wolf”. Over the centuries Lupus has had many names like “the great imitator” because this disease mimics other diseases or “women’s disease” because Lupus affects mostly women. Lupus does occur 10 to 15 times more in adult females than among adult males (Cause). With all the ongoing research to find a cause for Lupus, researchers can’t find a reason why Lupus occurs. Some researchers believe there is not one specific cause but, there are probably multiple factors. Several different single genes increase the risk for Lupus by increasing the body’s ability to make antibodies. The most common ages for the onset of Lupus are between 18 and 55, even though this disease can occur before or after these ages. Most people believe that this disease only occurs in women but men also get this sickness. A ration of men to women who get this sickness is about 1 to 13 (Lupus).…

In our bodies we need energy so that we could do things that are possible such as; move our muscles, talk and all the other things that we do. Without energy all people would be useless not being able to do anything. Energy is needed to extract the oxygen from the areas in our bodies and diffuse it into our bloodstream. As warm blooded people we can only digest food and function if our bodies are at a certain temperature and have enough energy, and energy is required for this. We need energy to be able to move and use our muscles which also only operate when they are warm. Energy is the ability to do work in our bodies. That means doing everything that a body needs to do to stay alive and to grow: pumping ions across membranes, making new proteins, making new lipids, making hormones, making new cells, neural function, contracting muscles, replacing damaged components, absorbing nutrients, excreting wastes and pumping blood.…
