Company description:

BISTRO GROUP OF COMPANIES has established its presence as the premier operator of branded casual dining restaurants in the Philippines and has based its successful operations on the basic philosophy of: Cold Beer, Hot Food, Good Value and Great Service.

TGI FRIDAY’S
Established in 1993, the company started its business by bringing to the Philippines its flagship restaurant, TGI Fridays of the Friday’s Hospitality Group based in Dallas, Texas. The restaurant has expanded to 5 branches in 6 years. Its first and largest store has registered the chain’s highest guest count in the world for three consecutive years during its first three years of operations. TGI Friday’s will continue to expand through the development of smaller outlets located in high traffic areas and shopping malls.

ITALIANNI’S
In 1995, Bistro acquired the exclusive franchise to operate Italianni’s chain of restaurants in Manila and has enjoyed phenomenal success with the opening of its first international chain outside the US. Italianni’s offers American- Italian specialties with its unique concept of ‘ Amore di Merrier’ or shared style dining and is a subsidiary of the Friday’s Hospitality Group in the US which operates TGI Friday’s.

OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE
“ No rules, just right” is how Outback Steakhouse is building its reputation when it opened its doors in 1997 - like dressing casually for a steak dinner, or serving American food in a totally Aussie (that’s Australian) laid back atmosphere with boomerangs and koalas. Although this concept is only about 10 years old, it has aggressively grown to over 400 chains in the US and some parts in Europe. Bistro Group of Restaurant Concepts was awarded the exclusive franchise to develop and operate Outback restaurants in the Philippines.

FISH & COMPANY
A new member of the Bistro Group of Restaurant Concepts is Fish & Co., a division of O.B. Singapore Operations Pte Ltd. The first two Fish & Co. restaurants in the Philippines were opened in 2005 with a series of new stores lined up for launching within the next year. Designed to feel cozy, relaxed and inviting, Fish & Co. restaurants exude a cheery and warm ambience. The cheerful nautical setting and vivid use of colors give Fish & Co. restaurants a distinct charm and unique personality.

The company’s philosophy is focused on people- from its guests, employees, owners, and suppliers. The way we do business is by “treating everyone as honored guests in our own homes.” Our passion lies in developing our people and investing heavily on training, this being the backbone of our success. We believe that guest experience should never exceed employee experience. Simply put, the happier our employees are, the happier our guests would be.
We believe that if we take care of our employees, the institution of Bistro will take care of itself.

The Bistro chains décor and menu are based on the original café opened in 1989 and are outdated. Although this image could be keeping the trade from your loyal older customers, they tend to visit less frequently and don’t have as much money to spend as mentioned in the case study. To appeal to younger and new customers, I would suggest modernising the appearance and updating the menu.…
