QUESTION 1 (a) Mr. Ng is considering the possibility of teaching swimming to kids during school holiday. A local swim club open its pool at noon each day, so it is available for rent during the morning. The cost of renting the pool during the 8-week period for which Mr. Ng would need is RM3200. The pool would also charge Mr. Ng an admission, towel service, and life guarding fee of RM10 per pupil, and Mr. Ng estimate an additional RM12 per pupil to hire several assistants. Mr. Ng plan to charge RM150 per pupil for the 8-week swimming class. (i) (ii) (iii) How many pupils does Mr. Ng need to enrol in their class to break even? (6 marks) If Mr. Ng wants to make a profit of RM6000 for the school holiday, how many pupils does he need to enrol? (5 marks) Mr. Ng estimates that he might not be able to enrol more than 50 pupils. If he enrol this many pupils, how much would he need to charge per pupil in order to realize his profit goal of RM6000? (4 marks)
A nut shop packages mixtures of different nuts for sale. From peanuts, cashews and almonds, the owner wants to prepare a mixture which will sell for RM3.75 for a 1 pound bag. The cost per pound of these nuts is RM1.50, RM7.00, and RM4.50, respectively. The amount of peanuts has to be 2.5 times the amount of almonds....
