1. Explain three differences between terrestrial and Jovian planets.

-Three differences between terrestrial and Jovian planets are first their surfaces. Terrestrial planet’s surface is made of solid and Jovian planet’s surface is made of gas. The terrestrial planets are close to the sun and Jovian planets are further away from the sun. Last is terrestrial planets spin a lot less than Jovian planets.

2. How are the atmospheres of Venus and Mars different than the Earth?

-The atmospheres of Venus and Mars are different than the Earth because Venus and Mars are mainly made of Carbon Dioxide and the Earth is mainly made of Nitrogen.

3. Describe the major surface features and composition of:

a) the Earth’s Moon – The surface of the moon is one like the Earth which has lunar crust about 60km thick. It also has craters throughout. b) Mercury- Has variety of terrains which includes crater free and heavily crater terrain. c) Europa- Is one of Jupiter’s moon which is very icy crust and a rock mantle.

4. Explain at least three ways Uranus and Neptune are different from Jupiter.

-Three ways Uranus and Neptune are different than Jupiter is that first Uranus and Neptune are smaller than Jupiter. Next Jupiter is core is mostly made up of gas and Uranus and Neptune core isn’t. Uranus and Neptune are warmer than Jupiter because they are closer to the sun.

5. Explain the difference between an open cluster and a globular cluster.

- The difference is open clusters are made of stars that are not tightly held together by gravity and globular clusters are. Another difference is the age of the stars

Although the sun is much larger than the moon, the distance causes them to appear comparable in size. The equatorial diameter of the sun has been calculated at 865,000 miles, while the moon comes in at a less impressive 2,160 miles. The surface area is also proportionately different. The sun spans an enormous 2,347,017,636,988 square miles, with the moon measuring in at 14,658,000 square miles. Consequently, the weight of the sun has been estimated at 4,385,214,857,119,400,000,000,000,000,000 pounds, making the moon’s 81 trillion tons seem light-weight.…

Planets closer to the sun are in better conditions and are well suited for rock and metal to condense. The farther away you get from the sun the conditions will change making the area not as suitable. That is why Earth is in the perfect place for it to sustain life. Planets that are made of gases and condensed ice have passed a boundary called the frost line. Planets behind the frost line have conditions cold enough for ice to condensate and form a planet.…

The Jovian planets, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune are the four planets furthest from the Sun. These planets are regarded as jovian due to the “jupiterlike” qualities they possess. In contrast, they all differ greatly from the Terrestrial Planets in regards to size, composition and density. In addition, unlike the rocky, “earthy” Terrestrials, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune are far larger in size and far less dense which is primarily due to their elemental composition. The Jovian Planets are comprised of lighter elements and are gaseous by nature , which is why they are also known as the gas…

2.) Crustal rocks are created both in the oceans and on land. The oceanic crustal rocks are created at the mid- ocean ridges and the continental crust is created by colliding plates and volcanoes. Galileo rote the letter that said he discovered Jupiter's moons on January 7, 1609. Galileo named the four moons, also known as satellites, Ganymede, Callisto, Europa, and Lo. He studied the planet, Jupiter, of the course of one month and found the route each one of the moons take. Galileo wrote about the moons in his book named, Siderius Nuncius. The moon named Lo, is the fourth largest moon in the universe. This moon also has around 400 volcanoes that are active, 200 mountains, and it has a very thin atmosphere. Europa is the smallest of the four moons and is one of the smoothest moon in the Solar System. Europa is covered in water that is frozen over. Ganymede is the largest moon in the Solar System and it's diameter is 5262.4 kilometers. It is covered in craters and in ice. Callisto is the farthest moon away from Jupiter. Uranus’s atmosphere is composed of primarily of hydrogen and helium and only a small amount of it is methane and traces of water which is what Uranus gets its blue green color from (methane gas). Uranus has no solid surface and was once considered one of the bladder looking planets. Uranus was also revealed as a dynamic with some of the clouds in the outer solar system. One day there was a satellite discovered on Uranus in 1948 called Miranda and Miranda looked like it was pieced together from parts that didn’t quite merge properly. The Miranda was also about 500 km in diameter.…
