About the Groundhog Day
People always can not say no to the romantic comedy, although we know exactly the so-called “destiny brings them together’’ actually is “screenwriter brings them together” and it’s never going to happen to us, we still do love these sweet movies as much as ice-creams without the fear of being fat. Groundhog Day (1993) is a typical one, directed by Harold Ramis, with comedic veteran Bill Murray and Hollywood beauty Andie MacDowell giving us such a romantic and fantasy comedy. More importantly, the movie arouses people’s love to every common day. The weather reporter Phil is fed up with his repeated life; he mocks and satirizes everything around him and plays with his life. When the annual Groundhog Day comes, Phil is sent to a small town to report the ceremony, which was the fourth time for this job, and it gives Phil a big headache. The hot producer has no interest in him at all, the ceremony is boring and even worse, and they get stuck in town by the blizzard. It seems that life is against Phil. However, something more mystifying happen …Not the same as the normal romantic comedy, such as You've Got Mail (which I love very much even it’s really simple and meaningless) and Four Weddings and a Funeral. Groundhog Day would evokes ours gratitude and devotion to life when the ending song begins, and it’s just for life itself rather than love or career things. When the movie is over, an idea may rush into our mind, that we should take our lives earnestly from next second. The imaginative plot and excellent performance also could make Groundhog Day stand out in so many same kind movies. The black humor of Murray shows vividly Phil’s bored of life, and although MacDowell is just kind of a supporting beauty in the movie, she catches the verve of Rita, a perfectionist with a romantic temperament.
